Group Members

An addition to its regular or family membership Spinnaker Club is host to a number of Group Members.
These Groups are themselves composed of sailor members regularly using the lake mainly on weekdays.

Paid up, individual members of these Groups are normally entitled to take part on their own account in Club organised activities, e.g. racing or hiring Club boats.
For more information about these Groups and their activities please contact the Club Administrator

Dinghy Sailing Show 2004

My Firefly ‘Flo’ on display in the majestic surroundings of Alexander Palace at this year’s RYA Dinghy Sailing Show. National Firefly Association representatives tirelessly entertained hundreds of visitors interested in the Firefly past, present and future. Apart from the chance to meet Paul Elvström, the bustling NFA stand also featured an Olympic Firefly under restoration and similar to the boat that Paul would have campaigned, singled handed.

This is one of the few sailing dates worth swapping for an entertaining and informative family day out at the country’s only show truly aimed at dinghy sailing. Don’t miss it next year! Ed

People come and people go…

Following last year’s impressive growth the Club’s membership remains broadly at the same 380 level.
Maintaining such an overall increase must undoubtedly be the envy of many other sailing clubs nationwide.
A few members have left the Club while around 30 have joined.

To the 60 or so members who have still not yet renewed, an early reply would be very helpful to our administration, especially those who have boat spaces allocated that still need to be paid for. Brenda Jackson

Sailors’ fare

As regular as race starts Spinnaker Club’s galley is open on Sundays from 10:30 until finish.
A wide range of hot and cold meals and snacks suiting all tastes is available for sailors and shore crew alike.
Even if you are not sailing, what better way to spend a summer Sunday lunchtime?

Tip: Sue’s ‘Rocket Cake’ comes highly recommended, Ed

2004 Questionnaire

Many thanks to all of you who completed and returned Spinnaker Club’s second questionnaire.
As in 2003 nearly half of the membership responded. The information will provide your Club’s committees with a range of useful pointers for future policy. Some of the forms returned did contain concerns and queries about Club procedures, e.g. boat booking.
While every effort is made to keep members informed via notice boards, newsletter, yearbook, and website, the best way to stay informed is to ask. Equally your suggestions on any Club-related aspect will always be welcomed.
